Toddler Beds

Toddler beds are a big step for children that are venturing out of their cot and into a full-size bed. They are available in a range of styles, colours and made from either pine, metal or moulded plastic. The more traditional toddler beds would be made in pine wood and be around 140cm in length, which is ample for most toddlers to use until they’re 8-10 years old. There are optional or removable side-rails that partially cover the head section of the bed, which is just a safety precaution for the toddler as they won’t be used to not having side-rails. They are also good for the transition to the ‘big’ child’s bed.

All of the surfaces will be smoothed and sanded nicely so they not only look good, modern yet traditional and clean, but they will be safe for the child in case of a slip or a fall out of bed. Toddler beds are made to a high standard as children tend to get heavier, become adventurous and will climb all over the bed and test it’s durability. This is why it’s important to invest in a good toddler bed so it not only lasts a long time but can resist the abuse from children playing on it.

Depending on the parent’s preferences there are many different colours and designs of toddler beds available. With additional bed rails, in case the child cannot quite get used to not being enclosed, and padded sections for those kids that move around in their sleep, the bed makers have thought of every eventuality. Some toddler beds come with drawers that are located under the bed and are perfect for that extra storage space every family needs. Whether it’s for toys, spare bedding and linen or simply for the child to fill up with their ‘stuff’, having extra drawers in a child’s bedroom is very handy.

The beauty about junior beds or toddler beds is they are so popular so they don’t cost the earth. Some are available in pink or blue, or if it’s preferred, then it can be varnished or left plain.
